Expand Early Literacy
The height of brain development for language and literacy is when a child is 10 months old. Our goal is to help families and communities support literacy and language development during the earliest years. To do that, we’re implementing pre-literacy programming through the Guilford Basics and Active Reading strategies for toddlers and preschoolers.
Working with partners, we’re building a Guilford County where newborns and infants have access to adults who practice “serve and return” conversations during the earliest months of their lives, and where all infants, toddlers and preschoolers have easy access to plenty of books.
